Reflection on NPC

Hi all, I am Tiffy!

Being back from NPC 2009, I have quite much feelings towards it. And I wanna share with you all here!

Let's share some photo first!

Having been to the National Planning Conference 09, I really feel like it changed my life.
I learnt a lot there. not only about @, but also other skills, and I was also inspired to think about my career path, my future, my values and my personal goal.

Though it was a really tough time, it worths.
The bonding that I felt, the support that everyone gave and received, I'm sure you can find it nowhere else. It is because @ is not only a place where a group of youngsters work together, but a place where youth with passion, who cares about the world working together, aiming at the same goal, not for personal goodies, but for society, doing their best, to become a change agent and impact the world.

I really enjoy being part of @! Let's work hard together to make our LC the best!

Greetings from our lovely EP Cafrany Chow in Nigeria!!

Let me say hi to fellow family members in AIESEC BU!!

To the new recruits and friends!!
As you may know me from the posters in the campus, I am an AIESECer, Cafrany who is currently at the 4th stage - exchange stage of my AIESEC eXPerience in Nigeria.
To be AIESEC-terminology-free, I am having my overseas internship after graduation.
Some AIESEC countries call “Exchange stage” as “working aboard stage” as the “exchange” that we are talking about in AIESEC is differentiating from the “exchange” we usually mention in campus. In AIESEC-term, exchange means international internships which can enable you to experience job practice and at the same time cultural exchange as your mission.

Yes, as a cultural ambassador of your origin!

l Would you introduce yourself as a HongKonger or a Chinese? You are from Hong Kong, Mainland Hong Kong or simply Mainland China?
l Can you imagine people aboard are stereotyping every Chinese knows kong-fu? – This is the typical question I am asked in Nigeria.
l The second question you needa prepare is “Do you know Jet Li & Jacky Chan?” and you can proudly reply Jacky Chan’s house is indeed very near to my university…

At the same time, checking out the cultural stereotype of the nation during your journey!! Like me who will be finishing my 3-month Nigerian adventure in 2 weeks, would find out…
l Nigerian summer may be cooler than Hong Kong!!! :P (I still remember it was 33 degree when I left Hong Kong and it has been 20 sth degree in average during Aug-early Oct in Ilorin…
l The Black babies are not borne to be dark as I attended a naming ceremony of a 7-day baby.
l Petroleum is the national symbol of Nigeria but its associated products like electricity is always a luxury to enjoy regularly every day. You can’t imagine my motivation of the day after a day of exhaust at work is enjoying stable power supply so that I can cook, read and move in the house without candles or torch!!
l 57% of Nigerians live under 1 USD per day according to Country Profile: Nigeria, Library of Congress Federal Research division , June 2006, but most of the people I meet here would have 2 cell phones and could spend like up to HKD 300 for monthly phone recharge…(you can’t imagine how expensive a minute on the phone here is when you are enjoying a monthly phone plan in Hong Kong…

Anyway, hope you are still patient in my long essay here :P
What I can conclude is it’s so true that experience is something more than a book can tell you…the 1000 miles to Nigeria is worth than the air flight ticket $, I am sure!!
Can’t wait to share with you more in person soon!!

here is a picture of Uni of Ilorin and Visit of BoA of AIESEC Ilorin I took in August
the sitting one is advisor of AIESEC Ilorin, other 2 Nigerians are LCPs of Ilorin, Chris - 0607, Kemi (the girl) - 070

another picture i took as my friend insists i should braid my hair before i come back..:P
enjoy and thanks for uploading to BU blog when u r free!!

Our lanterns and us! Guess which is which?

We met some very curious kids! Urging us to light up their lanterns! :) So cute!
"Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! ".
One little kid replied, "Happy New Year!". "Don't say this, or the candle flame will be gone", said another girl;P
